Our hypothesis!
Because sexual selection will favor males of higher quality more strongly in variable climates, broadband, trill rate, total song duration, and terminal song duration of the male House Wren (Troglodytes aedon) will increase:
1. As latitude increases
2. Over time
3. Faster over time as latitude increases
Parts to the House Wren Song
Definitions
- Switch-The point at which the song of a house wren "switches" from introductory to terminal
- Frequency-Number of cycles per second; higher frequency, higher pitch, and vice versa.
- Bandwidth-The total range of frequencies within a song
“The more complex the song, the more likely it is that the original purpose of the song will be achieved.”

Statistical analysis model:
•Linear effects model in “R”
•Latitude, year as main effects
•Day of year, time of day, as covariates
•Tested also for rate of change of song form since might differ depending on latitude
